5 Mindsets that limit Creative Video Production #3

#3 – We don’t have the budget…

It’s often the case that your budget is inversely proportional to the creativity of an idea.

An example of this is a music video that Entendre Productions recently produced for Realigning Alice, an alternate grunge outfit from the Central Coast, for their new single “Paper Thin.” Being an interdependent band, they don’t have a huge amount of cash. When I met them, they had great concern as to how much a music video would cost as they had received two quotes from other agencies both in excess of $5,000. They seemed genuinely surprised when I asked to hear the song. Even more surprised when I asked them how much they wanted to spend! They only had $3K… so my team and I came up with a concept that cost under $3K.

We were able to come up with a creative (if very raunchy) music video that was tailored to the band’s image and the main demographic of their followers.

Within 3 weeks of this video clip coming out the band has received over 26.000 views on YouTube which is not bad when you consider that they had only been together for 18 months and had a Facebook following of roughly 800.

Altogether this clip was well under budget but still created the hype the band wanted. Never think, that is too expensive but instead, dream big and work backwards.
